three men into custody at the store. On the suspects and inside their vehicle, they found more than 25 re encoded debit or credit cards. Clark said they were using the re encoded cards to buy gift cards. They had bought $3,000 in gift cards in just 30 minutes. All three men are charged with trafficking in stolen identities. They are: Samuel Bamidele Cole, 25; Olakunle Oluwaseun Ijiti, 33, and Antwi K Boampong, 32.Clark said more charges are expected. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed immigration detainers on Cole and Ijiti, both of whom were arrested not long Converse Rose ago in a similar bust in Nashville. In that case, Clark said, officers were tipped off to Ijiti, Cole and two other people staying Tennessee hotel. Police watched them get into a BMW and drive to Walmart stores in the Converse Trainers Sale Online
Nashville area. There they used fraudulent credit cards with stolen numbers to buy $2,800 worth of gift cards from the stores.A search of those four suspects, their hotel rooms and vehicle turned up more than 100 gift cards, computers, a credit card encoder and more than $32,000 in blank money orders, police said. All four were charged with criminal simulation and released on $5,000 bond. Cole and Ijiti traveled from Maryland, and the other two from Miami. and Turay and Bangura came up from Miami, police said.Gardendale police made a similar arrest in June of 2013. Clark said then the scheme works like this: People working cash registers at business, often fast food restaurants and airport terminals, use machines called skimmers to copy and embed credit and debit cards when they are used for payment. "At that point, you've paid for your meal but they will have captured the information from your Womens White Leather Converse Shoes
card."The credit/debit card numbers are collected and downloaded from the skimmer to a laptop. They are then used to make fake cards that are strikingly similar if not identical, to the legitimate card issued by financial institutions. Once the cards are made, they will take them to stores, and buy as much as they can as fast as they can. They take 100 or 200 of the cards to a store, such as Walmart, and use them to buy gift cards, as many time as they can until the card is rejected. Once a card is declined, they move on to another card, Clark said. "In video surveillance I've watched clerks sit there for 10 or 12 minutes and watch people use multiple cards in multiple transactions,'' he said. "My experience is they don't care."Once they get the gift cards, they use those to go shopping, or pay bills, or for anything they might need for daily living. In Friday's case, Clark said the quick collaboration between Regions Bank and the Gardendale Police Department made the arrest of the "multi jurisdictional fraudsters" possible. "It has been my experience working in conjunction with Regions Bank that they have become the gold standard in the fight against fraud,'' Clark said. "Regions Bank confronts the growing trend in fraud aggressively in the pursuit to protect their customers."
